Our Apparatus

There are currently 9 active pieces of apparatus in service at Madison Hose Co. No. 1.


  • This 2006 Pierce Enforcer Pumper is currently in service as 2-5-1
  • This Pierce EN5700 has a wheelbase of 174.5” and an approximate height of 9’-7”.
  • It has the ability to carry 750 gallons of water with a 1,500 GPM Hale pump, firefighting capabilities are enhanced with class A & B foam tanks
  • 2-5-1


  • 252 is a 1988 Pierce Dash Engine
  • This apparatus was replaced by the current 251, and is used as a second engine when needed, or as a reserve engine to replace a unit out of service.
  • It also has 750 gallons of water. It can be used in place of 261 when responding to a call in a known hydranted area of town.

  • This 2000 Pierce Dash 100’ Aerial is currently in service as 2-7-1.
  • This truck has a 2000 GPM pump, 400 gallon water tank, and on-board generator.
  • The Pierce also carries a full complement of gas powered saws, ventilation fans, and ground ladders.

  • 261 is a 2010 Crimson Tanker with a Spartan Cab/Chassis.
  • This is the newest apparatus to the fleet and carries 3000 gallons of water with a 2000 GPM pump. It also has a 6 person cab containing SCBA, handlights, portable radios, hand tools, etc.
  • It carries 1000’ of LDH, handlines, and ground ladders.
  • In addition, 261 carries a portable dump tank, and has extending dump chutes on both sides and a large dump chute off the rear. 261 is essential for water supply in non-hydranted areas of town and for mutual aid assistance to other municipalities.

  • 291 is a 1996 Freightliner Heavy Rescue.
  • This truck carries all necessary equipment for responses to motor vehicle accidents, including extrication equipment, technical rescue equipment, as well as a cascade system to fill SCBA bottles on scene.
  • In addition, 291 has mobile command capabilities using the walk-in compartment, navigation tools for marine rescues and a full complement of standard hand tools and breathing apparatus.
  • This unit is the first to respond to motor vehicle accidents, water rescues, or other specialty rescue situations.

  • This 2002 Ford F-550 Super Duty 4 x 4 is currently in service as 2-8-1
  • This brush truck responds to wildland fires

  • This trailer carries supplemental hazardous materials supplies

  • This 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4 x 4 is currently in service as 2-3-1
  • The cab and chassis with utility body features a Powerstroke diesel V8 engine with an automatic transmission.
  • This unit carries fire extinguishers, saws, and various tools. This vehicle is used for transporting personnel and also carries traffic cones and barricades for traffic control at long term incidents.

  • This 20’ Maritime Skiff is currently in service as our Fire Boat, R-2.
  • This boat includes a 115HP Johnson outboard motor, navigation electronics, a fire radio, and trailer.

  • The motor is a 2012 Evenrude
  • Used for water rescue – has the ability to get close to shore giving us the capabilities to do water rescue in shallow or rocky areas
