The third annual Pitching For Charity event took place Saturday Aug. 11 at the Surf Club, despite the rain, and raised about $15,000 for the Madison Food Pantry and Neighbor 2 Neighbor.
It was a close one, 12-11, but the real winners were the Madison Food Pantry and Neighbor 2 Neighbor, beneficiaries of the fundraiser.
Madison Hose Co. No. 1 prevailed on the softball field, 12-11, against the realtors team, which was supplemented by town officials and other business people in town. In addition the softball game, there also were games and a live auction where participants bid on Red Sox tickets, lunch on one of the Thimble Island’s, Golf lessons, golf packages, and more.
The highlight of the auction was a chance to bid on a ride to school on a Madison Fire Truck for any child that lives in Madison and attends school in the Madison School System.
