Madison Hose Company # 1 is made up of a talented group of individuals who willingly volunteer their own personal time to protect our community.

We are reliant on the continued service of readily available volunteer firefighters and are always looking for new members to join our ranks - perhaps YOU COULD HELP.

Whether you have firefighting experience already or not, if you live in town and are interested in becoming a firefighter, we would like to talk with you more about  volunteering with us.

If you decide to join, Madison Hose Company # 1 will provide you with all of the training and gear needed at no out-of-pocket expense to you.

As an incentive to volunteer, active firefighters receive a $2,000.00 per year tax abatement from the town if they own property. We also offer a small retirement plan. Individuals qualify for partial retirement compensation after 12 years of continued service with the company. Members who serve the company actively for 25 years are fully vested and will receive the maximum amount allowable when they reach 62 years of age.
