Apparatus

CAR 2
2016 Chevy Tahoe. Car2 is our chief's vehicle, which allows the chief officer to get to the emergency scene as soon as possible and begin taking command. This allows critical information to be radioed to responding apparatus. It is equipped with the necessary hand tools for a 2-man team including SCBA, thermal camera, set of irons, 4-gas meters, a water can, and more. |

2-5-1
2006 Pierce Enforcer. 2-5-1 is our main attack engine. This rig is equipped with a 1500 GPM pump, 750 gallons of water, and class A & Class B foam tanks. This compact rig was designed to navigate the tight driveways and narrow roads in our first due district. 2-5-1 has seating for 4 firefighters (2 jumpseats, 1 officer, 1 chauffeur). Equipment carried on this apparatus includes a full complement of supply and attack hose, fan, scene lighting, a hydraulic generator, hydraulic rescue tools with a porta-pack for vehicle extrication, 24’ ground ladder and a 14’ roof ladder. 2-6-1
2010 Spartan Crimson. 2-6-1's primary function is to bring water to the scene of a fire. This rig is equipped with a 2000 gallon per minute pump and 3000 gallons of water. Portions of our first due response area are not hydranted, so this apparatus plays a major role at those fire scenes. Electric dump shoots on both the driver’s side, officer’s side, and rear body make it ideal for tanker shuttles because of its ability to dump water into a portable pond very quickly. The short design of this rig makes it ideal for operations on tight narrow back roads 2-6-1 has seating for 6 firefighters, a 3000-gallon portable fold-a-tank, a 24’ ground ladder and a 14’ roof ladder.

This unit is frequently called on mutual aid calls by our neighbors, particularly for RIT operations at the scene of working structure fires. 2-7-1 features a 100’ mid-mount aerial platform that allows our firefighters to reach windows for victim rescues. It is also frequently used for roof access for ventilation and chimney access during chimney fires. It also has a pre-plumbed waterway for master stream operations.

2-8-2
Can Am Defender 1000 UTV 4x4. The most prominent use of 282 is towing the Zodiac. This is used as our second due piece for inseason water rescues, to complement Marine 1. In the offseason, the 282/zodiac combo is the primary cold water/ice rescue response apparatus. The fast speed of 282, coupled with its all-terrain capabilities, allows it to access almost any beachfront in town for a rapid launch of the Zodiac close to the incident. We also use 282 as a utility vehicle with its small pickup bed. It is great during nor’easters, allowing us access into neighborhoods even when the roads are blocked by downed power lines and trees.

Zodiac
16’ Hard Bottom Zodiac boat. The Zodiac is predominantly used as our offseason water rescue response piece since Marine 1 is removed from service in the offseason. We also respond with this piece to in-season water rescues, especially for incidents in shallow waters and in rocky areas where Marine 1 is not able to access. The Zodiac is kept on a trailer at Fire Headquarters, which keeps it centrally located along the Madison coastline. It is equipped with a single 40 HP outboard motor.
