Madison Hose Company # 1 is located at 665 Boston Post Rod, Madison, CT 06443.
The fire house was built in 1923 and was used as a Maxwell and Chrysler automobile dealer and service station prior to being used as a fire station.
The building has been modified many times over the years to accommodate the needs of our company - not an easy task for a building that was meant to repair automobiles in the early part of the last century. The fire apparatus housed in this building are at least twice the size of those operated by the company when the building was purchased in 1955 for use as a fire station.
The current fire house is the fourth home of Madison Hose Company # 1 since our organization in 1907. The first two locations were rented garages in the early days of the department. The third location was the first permanent home, located just a couple doors down from the current firehouse, in what is now a barbershop and art gallery. Learn more about the past stations in our History page.
